TODAY’S VERSE: (Read 2 Peter 3:15-18)
Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. 2 Peter 3:17-18
THEME: GROWING IN GRACE AND KNOWLEDGE
WORDS OF HOPE:
Verses 17 and 18 of today’s verse are the conclusion of Peter’s letter and should be taken together. These words summarize Peter’s letter, and include both a warning against being misled by the false teachers and an encouragement to keep growing in Christ. Specifically, Peter urges his readers to grow in two areas: The grace of Jesus, and their knowledge of Him. To grow in grace is to fix your eyes on Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith. Peter was admonishing his audience to beware of false prophets whose motive is to sway them away from the truth. Rather, he encouraged them to grow in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ so that they cannot be moved away by every wind of doctrine. To grow in the knowledge of the Lord is to have a closer walk with the Lord and surrender your all to Him. We are living in times where false prophets are all over, leading people away from the faith. We are being advised to be careful of such people. There are Christians whose movement and every aspect of their lives is directed by a prophet. Be guided with regards to your knowledge in the Lord.
• Pray to grow in grace.
• Pray to grow in the knowledge of the Lord.
• Pray for the grace to be grounded in the Lord.
Lord, may my life be grounded in the Lord in the name of Jesus. Amen 🙏🏽
