DAILY WORDS OF HOPE
BY PCG, HOPE CONGREGATION–SAK. EST
(Lent Day 8 🛐)
Rather, He made himself nothing by taking the very nature[a] of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Phil 2:7-8
THEME: Obedience at a great cost
WORDS OF HOPE:
The traffic lights are helpful to motorists to conduct free flow of traffic from one section of an intersection to the other. Following the rules of the traffic light can cost time but saves from fatalities. Hence failure to adhere to the traffic rules can end up with dire consequences. Obedience comes at a cost always. It was expensive for Jesus to obey the father in order that we on earth might be saved. First, Jesus “made himself nothing” (v.7). Jesus did not stop being God, but He did lay aside His honour and privilege as God the son. In so doing, He was submitting to the will of His father. A personal choice Jesus took for Himself. Nobody did that for Him. Second, Jesus was “made in human likeness” (v7). The creator became the creature; the word became flesh and lived among us. Jesus was like us in every way except for one thing: He did not sin. Third, Jesus lived a life of suffering and “became obedient to death”, an agonizing and shameful death on a cross (v8). He endued a life of mockery and insults. He was “despised and rejected by men” and was familiar with suffering. This was the cost of our salvation.
· Pray for a deep passion to willingly pay the cost of true obedience.
· Pray that God will grant you the grace to endure suffering.
· Pray that you will live for God no matter the cost.
Lord, assist us to live glorifying you always in the name of Jesus. Amen🙏🏽
