DAILY WORDS OF HOPE
BY PCG, HOPE CONGREGATION–SAK. EST
(Lent Day 11 🛐)
He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all people will see God’s salvation.
THEME: Salvation is here
WORDS OF HOPE:
John the Baptist knew he had a job to do and he set out to do it. Spectators gathered round him, listening to his stirring talk and seeing how people react. Jesus knew, and it is still the case, that God’s people want to hear something new, something challenging. Everyone is curious to hear the latest news. John did not spare them. He gave them the grand description of the new things that are going to happen. Just as Isaiah said: God is going to flatten the hills and fill in the valleys, because he is coming back to his people in person, back to his word, and he is going to straighten everything out! There is so much in the world that needs straightening out! There is terrorism, famine, war and all kinds of bitterness. Around us people are unhappy, or unemployed, or unloved or a combination of all three. We want God to come back and sort it all out. And we pray that it may be so indeed and quickly too. However the sorting out process begins here and now as we wait for His glorious return. People are still asking as they asked John: what should we do. John asked them to straighten their lives out in the simplest, most direct way. You can’t hide anything.
· Pray that the pervert law of God should convert your soul.
· Pray that God should cleanse you from secret sins.
· Pray that Sins of arrogance will not have dominion over you.
Lord, show me how my life can be straightened out, so that your healing and restoring power may flow through me to the world around. Amen🙏🏽
