TODAY’S VERSE:
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
1 John 2:3-6
THEME: DO YOU KNOW HIM?
WORDS OF HOPE:
Sometimes we can be under the illusion that we know somebody when in essence we don’t. This illusion is especially common in today’s world where the internet and social media could make us feel we know certain people (such as some public figures) and even think we are friends with them because, perhaps, they are on our Facebook friends’ list or belong to the same WhatsApp group we belong to. In the same vein, with Christianity surrounding us all over and the name of Jesus everywhere we turn, it is possible to be under the illusion of knowing Jesus when we actually don’t. In today’s text, Apostle John shows us how we can be sure that we know Jesus. According to him, the evidence that one knows Christ is one’s obedience to Christ’s commands; and that anyone who claims to know Him and does not obey His commands is a liar. In other words, you cannot know Him and be disobedient to Him. You cannot know Him and live any how; for ‘he that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.’ In simple terms, if you know and abide in Jesus, it will reflect in how you live.
So, the question again…do you know him? If yes, glory to God! If no, get to know Him for real. Allow the love of God to be perfected in you. Yield yourself to Him…listen to Him…obey Him. Then would you be sure that you know Him indeed. Blessings!
PRAYER POINTS:
• Pray for grace to know Christ for real.
• Pray that as you get to know Christ and abide in Him, His life and nature will continually flow into you and cause you to live like He did while on earth.
• Pray that you will daily yield to Christ’s leadings and be obedient to Him.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, may I know You for real. May Your life be seen in my life. May I know You indeed. Thank You Lord for an answered prayer. Amen 🙏🏽
