Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize – I Corinthians 9:24 -27 (NIV)

WORDS OF HOPE:
The 1998 Soul Olympics Men`s 100 metres in South Korea, has been dubbed the “dirtiest race” in history simply because of the actions of one man, Ben Johnson of Canada. He run fastest to set a new record of 9.79s to defeat Carl Lewis of the United States. However, two days later, he was stripped of his gold medal for using an energy boosting “banned” substance, stanozolol and his record of 9.79s was deleted. The gold medal was awarded to Carl Lewis for running clean and finishing well. Christians are in transit on this earth and running a race daily as long as our mortal bodies stay alive. Our race is full of ups and downs, and requires discipline and dependence on the Holy Spirit to run clean and finish well. The devil will throw many devices in our way, but we are not ignorant of such because we are fortified and have the mind of Christ. God will never leave us in the middle of nowhere but will instead be with us in the race from the beginning to finish well in the end.
PRAYER TOPICS:
• Ask the Holy Spirit to grant you renewed strength as you sojourn on this earth daily.
• Pray that you will always be alert to escape the wiles of the enemy.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord Jesus, I ask you to stay on course in the race with me from today. Let your Holy Spirit prepare and empower me to run clean and to finish well. I need you now more than ever to help me overcome the devices of the evil one as he throws them at me. Amen! 🙏🏽
