And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac. But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country. Genesis 25:5-6 KJV
THEME: PROTECT YOUR SON OF PROMISE
WORDS OF HOPE:T
In farming, weeds are cleared not only to create space on the farmland for planting but, more importantly, to prevent the weeds from competing with the plant(s) of interest. Should the weeds remain, they will aggressively ‘fight’ over the same amount of water, nutrients, and sunlight available on the farmland with the plant(s) of interest resulting in poor yield. We see Abraham follow the same principle in today’s text. He deliberately gave all he had to Isaac (the son of promise-through whom Abraham’s destiny of being the one in whom all the families of the earth will be blessed would be fulfilled) and gave gifts to his other sons ‘and sent them away from Isaac.’ Many things compete for our time and attention; and this year will be no different. From your Christian life, to family, work, education and social activities you’ll have a lot on your hands to do. But, if you are to succeed this year, like Abraham, there is the need to identify your son of promise and devote more time, attention and resources to it. There is the need to, in essence, give all you have to that son of promise. You may give gifts to other things in your life that require them, but certainly send them away from your son of promise. In other words, ensure that they neither distract nor compete with your son of promise. That is one of the surest ways to get your dream fulfilled this year!
PRAYER POINTS:
· Pray that God will help you identify your son of promise and help you set your priorities right.
· Pray that God will enable you do away with destiny wasters – things that negatively compete with your destiny.
· Pray that God will help you invest more time, energy and resources into your son of promise.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, may You help me to be like Abraham this year. May I be enabled to set my priorities right and invest more time, energy and resources into things that will make me become what You have destined me to be. Thank you Lord. Amen 🙏🏽
