THEME: DON’T BACKSLIDE
WORDS OF HOPE:
Backsliding is a living reality; indeed, most things have a tendency of devaluing, diminishing or deteriorating when left unattended or unmaintained. The same is true for the Christian life.
When Paul wrote to the Galatian church, they had, in a sense, backslidden from belief in ‘Salvation by Faith’ (Christianity) to belief in ‘Salvation by works of the Law’ (Judaism) though they were still in the ‘Christian’ religion. And so, among other things, Paul admonished them to stand firm in the faith and not believe another gospel (which, like Paul said, was no gospel [Gal. 1:7]). This text is equally applicable to us today, both in the original sense (i.e. deviating from Christian belief to other beliefs) as well as in the general sense of backsliding. Beloved, let’s pay proper attention to our faith this year; for because iniquity abounds with the passage of the years, the tendency to backslide becomes greater every year. Let’s pay attention to the things that help sustain us as Christians, lest we diminish in faith and deteriorate in character. Let’s stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage!!! Blessings!

· Pray that He who is able to keep you from falling will sustain you in Him this year.
