From there he went up to Beersheba. That night the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bless you and will increase the number of your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham.” Isaac built an altar there and called on the name of the Lord. There he pitched his tent, and there his servants dug a well. Genesis 26:23-25
THEME: STAND FIRM; DO NOT TREMBLE
WORDS OF HOPE:
“Fear not” is by far the most popular phrase in the Bible. Most times when God tells His people not to fear, He accompanies it with a promise. In Genesis 26:24, The Lord promised to bless Abraham and increase the number of his descendants but He firstly told him not to be afraid and that He was with him. This definitely gave Abraham a strong hope and a reason to stand firm. God knows that as Christians, we are faced with threats and troubles from the devil which can bring us great fear. The devil also knows that if he succeeds in getting God`s children to fear, he will win the war. The Christian journey brings us to places where the fear of the unknown pushes us to give up. When we develop our faith in Christ, and stand firm, God will take us places and we will enjoy all His promises.
