DAILY WORDS OF HOPE

TODAY’S VERSE:
Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.” When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing. Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour has come, and the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”
Matthew 26:39-46

THEME: BE ALERT; WATCH AND PRAY

WORDS OF HOPE:
When man falls asleep, he makes no contribution to that sleeping process. The rest of the sleeping period is decided on his behalf by The Almighty. However, before sleep overtakes a Christian, he must ensure that he has “watched and prayed”. If the devil roars like a lion seeking whom to devour, then sleep should rather be controlled by man and not the other way round.
The New Year brings freshness and great hope for God`s children, but it is also accompanied by trials and turbulent times as long as the devil stays awake. Jesus knew how the devil could “steal” the disciples whilst they slept, and so cautioned them to be alert by watching and praying. Our alertness and consistent prayers will bring us great joy and will carry us throughout the year 2019.

PRAYER POINTS:
· Pray for God`s divine protection throughout the year.
· Pray for the staying power to be alert and prayerful.
· Pray for a divine breakthrough in the year 2019

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus I am grateful for your love, care and protection throughout 2018. I pray for more protection this year for myself, family, and church. Grant me divine favour to remain alert and pray fervently consistently.
Amen! 🙏🏽
