TODAY’S VERSE: ROMANS 6:12-14

THEME: SIN IS OVERCOME; DON’T ALLOW IT TO REIGN IN YOUR MORTAL BODY

WORDS OF HOPE:
I have been asked severally by many children of God that, “if sin is overcome”, as we studied yesterday, “why do I still do sinful things?”
It is true sin has been overcome for us by Christ. This is true for all men, even including those who don’t believe in Jesus. This truth is only actualised for those who believe. Why do some of those who believe still sin? It is because they have not been rightly taught God’s word. For instance, many Christians around the world believe to err is human, because we are descendants of Adam. Thus, as long as they live in this body, they are bound to sin. This, however, is not the position of scripture. As we learnt yesterday, sin, the nature that made it possible for sinful actions to be committed has been destroyed by Jesus on the cross. Jesus did not bury it – He totally destroyed it.
Hence, from our scripture reference in Romans 6:12-14, sin is no longer your master. This means when sin calls don’t answer. In effect, the Christian sins by choice not because he or she cannot stop him or herself from doing wrong
things. Paul further admonishes that do not allow sins to reign in your mortal body. How do we do this? Do not offer your eyes to watch sinful things. Do not expose your ears to ungodly content. Do not use your mouth to say negative words because you are now in charge. What this means is this – enforce the victory over sin won for you by Christ.
From this very moment stop thinking you are under the control of sin. You are not! Consequently, be conscious of God’s righteousness in you. You are as righteous as Jesus is. This is how God sees all of us who believe in Him. You’re
not a descendant of Adam. The scripture teaches that we rather hail from Jesus Christ, the last Adam (1 Corinthians 15: 22, 45) and He is not prone to sin.
Hallelujah!

PRAYER TOPICS:
• Thank God that sin is no longer your master. Praise God that you have control over sin.
• Declare that sin shall not reign in your mortal body. Declare that the members of your body are members of Christ Himself and are vessels of His honour.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, we praise you for making us members of Jesus’ body, of His flesh and of His bones. Sin has no control over our bodies or our thoughts in Jesus’ name. Amen
