THEME: OVERCOMING SIN; CONFESSIONS OF SINS
WORDS OF HOPE:
In the last two days we have explored our victory over sin in the light of what Jesus did for us on the cross and how we ought to live relative to our thoughts and actions.
In 1 John 2:1, the Apostle John wrote to the believers that they should not sin. Further, he exhorted that just in case some of them faulted, we have an advocate with the Father, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, the righteous One. It means we can live and must live without sinning; this is the Christian life!
So, what if a Christian after knowing all these still sins or does wrong? Such a Christian must take advantage of the advocacy work of Christ by agreeing with God. This is where our anchor text comes to play. Our anchor text is one of the most abused verses of scripture and it stems from the word ‘confess’. To ‘confess’ comes from the Greek word ‘homologéō’ and this word means to acknowledge; assent or agree. Thus, the apostle John meant if we acknowledge or agree to our faults, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Nowhere in this scripture are we exhorted to pile our sins and ‘confess’ them only when we come to God in prayer. Thus, you must cultivate the habit of spontaneously agreeing with God when you do wrong and not wait till your prayer times. Your
fellowship with God should mean so much to you that you don’t wait till you’re praying or in church praying before you accept His forgiveness.
Even now you can agree with God and enjoy His faithfulness and not wait till your prayer time. Also, when you tell God your faults accept His forgiveness and stop repeating your sins over and over again. Remain forgiven and live
in His righteousness.

• Thank God for His faithfulness and justice in Christ to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.
• Pray and accept God’s forgiveness for your faults and receive the grace to work sin-free in his presence.
PRAYER:
Father, I accept your forgiveness for every fault in Jesus’ name. Amen
