DAILY WORDS OF HOPE

TODAY’S VERSE: COLOSSIANS 3:1-2
THEME: SET YOUR MIND ON THINGS ABOVE
WORDS OF HOPE:
The essence of mind renewal as we have learnt in the last couple of days is to create a mindset. A mindset is therefore a template of thought that governs a person’s life. That is to say when you practice a specific thought over a period of time you create a mindset.
Therefore, strikers in a football team think in a particular way, very different from defenders. Teachers have their own mindsets and same for students. A person’s mindset not only defines him, it predicts him. Therefore, no matter the amount of money given to a poor man to get him out of poverty, he will be broke after some days if he does not rid himself of the poverty mindset that made him poor in the first place.
To this end, the scriptures exhort us to set our minds on things above. What this means is to create heavenly templates in our thinking. How? For instance, in heaven, no one cares about what they will eat, drink and wear. Jesus, who is our perfect example and LORD, therefore, asked us who believe in Him, to cast our cares on Him and not worry about what we shall eat or wear [Matthew 6:25-33]. He argues that even the birds of the air are all fed by God sufficiently. No bird has ever complained of hunger, except those in man-made cages. On this premise, He encourages us to seek His Kingdom and its righteousness and in turn receive what to eat and drink and more. This is the mental template or construct He wants us to have as we put our faith in Him. Our sense of sight, taste and smell teach our minds to complain about our needs but the word of God teaches us to depend on Christ and seek Him.
Today, make a choice to think like God so as to get God’s results. God bless you immensely as you do.
• Declare that you have the boldness to uphold God’s thoughts in your life in all things.
• Bless the LORD for the light of His word, which is establishing the winsome mindset in your life.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the light of your word. I choose it over my thoughts and it prevails mightily in every area of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen
