THEME: VICTORY OVER THE FLESH
WORDS OF HOPE:
The flesh, according to the scriptures is not the skin or the body. Rather it refers to the senses. The sense of sight, smell, taste, hearing and touch expressed in the body. The works of the flesh are therefore the works of the senses.
The story is told of Balaam, a prophet of God, in Numbers 22-24. He had received instruction from God not to go and curse Israel because they were a blessed people but because of his selfish gain and greed, he pursued a mission outside the perfect will of God. Balaam fell for the promise of promotion and great honour pledged by Balak, the king of Moab and the Midianites.
Like Balaam, many Christians follow after their senses and miss the timing and opportunities ordained by God for them. What we see, hear, taste, smell and touch are so transient. Further, they are only just a part of the whole picture. 1 Corinthians 2:9, teaches that God has so great a life for those who love Him and who have been called according to His purpose; however, eyes have not seen and ears have not heard and the minds cannot even fathom these wonders of God. Beloved, do not live to the flesh and die. Lift up your game, your life is bigger than what your eyes can see and ears can hear.
In verse 10 of 1 Corinthians 2, we learn that the glorious side of our lives which eyes cannot see and ears cannot hear are revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. That is; the real deal is with the Holy Spirit who lives inside you. This is why the only way not to gratify the desires of the flesh is to live by the Spirit. This means yield to the Holy Spirit, accept what He reveals about God and His word. Quit living by your senses and switch on the realm of possibility, authored by the Holy Spirit.
PRAYER TOPICS:
• Thank God for the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life and ask Him to reveal that which is prepared and ordained for you to you fully.
• Declare that from this moment your senses will no longer control or rule over you.
PRAYER:
Father, I yield myself to you; to your word and to your Spirit. I choose to live and function on your terms in Jesus’ name. Amen
