Preacher:
Passage: Ephesians 5:18, Luke 4:18-19

Life is now relatively more comfortable because of technology.  We need to ask ourselves how much value this comfort adds to our lives. There is a void in man that only God can fill. People resort to all sorts of things to fill that void.

Being filled with the Holy Spirit is one of the most essential steps to overcoming the world.
When the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit, they changed the world. Mere unschooled men were filled with wisdom and power, so much so that bystanders thought they were drunk. The church today needs the Holy Spirit to draw the world to it. Churches are getting empty and are even being sold and turned into mosques and brothels.

Being drunk with wine usually means you lack judgement. It usually means you behave in an uncouth manner that you would not do if you are sober. The church needs to rise and show the world what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit, what it means to rejoice in the face of tribulations, what it means to stand for what is right even when doing wrong is easier.
