Passage: Daniel 2: 1-5, 10-12, 17-20, 26-28
Service Type:

In Hebrews 13: 8, we read that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. It implies that the acts of Jesus are present in our time. The Old and New Testament believers trusted God in all circumstances For instance, Abraham waited on God for the promised son.

Elijah also prayed for God to answer by fire. He closed the heavens with prayer for three and a half years. Hezekiah prayed to God and his age was increased by 15 years. The disciples of Jesus prayed until Peter was miraculously released from Prison

What has changed?
a)The challenge we have in our time is our trust for the Lord always.
b)It is difficult for us to trust God in difficult situations

However, from the passage read, we are assured of the fact that, But THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN
In Daniel Chapter 2, we read about King Nebuchadnezzar and his dream. He said in verse 2 that: …“I have had a dream that troubles me and I want to know what it means”. He invited Magicians, enchanters, sorcerers, astrologers and gave them some task to perform. This includes a task to tell him about his dream and interpret same. Failure to tell and interpret the dream will lead to the execution of all the wise men of Babylon

Lessons from the passage
1. Believers shall be confronted with challenges but just like Daniel and his friends, we must remain faithful to God

Daniel and his friend resolved not to defile themselves with the King's food. They have decided to remain loyal to God. Job did the same as recorded in Job 1:1.

He was described as blameless and upright, he feared God and shunned evil. The question is, why were they not exempted from the King's decree?

a) God was about promoting them and they need to pass the test
b)Reveal the sovereignty of God to Nebuchadnezzar and the wise men
c) God was about giving them a testimony to indicate that their God is able

How do you receive a testimony without a challenge?
2. Where do you go with your challenges?
Like Daniel, we must seek God’s intervention. verse 18 (Daniel 2:18).

Daniel knew that God is able to do all things. He knew that nothing is impossible with God.

3. Remember there is a God in Heaven
a)They acknowledged their limitations: (Daniel 2: 11 & 27)
They noted, what the king asks is too difficult.
You need to acknowledge that as humans you can’t do all things.
That there are things beyond humans :

b)They pointed to God as the source of all solutions: verse 28a

c) God heard them. verse 19

Today, we have spoken about the theme “…but there is a God in heaven” under the following

1. Believers shall be confronted with Challenges
2. Where do you go with your challenges
3. Remember there is a God in Heaven

May we go through the year with this knowledge “BUT THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN?”
