John 1:6-9 John the apostle reveals the mission of John the Baptist in these verses. He came to be a witness to proclaim the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 1: 6-8 also admonishes us to go into the world as witnesses, like John the Baptist was.
Wise men still seek Jesus today, we need to ask ourselves if we are bright stars that are illuminating that path. Is Christ seen in this world? Are you one of the reasons? It is important to note that we are NOT the light. We have been called to testify about this light, to reflect the light of our Lord Jesus. Is your light bright enough? Does it reflect Christlikeness? If your light is dim, it will not attract people to the light.
Isaiah 60:1 calls us to arise and shine for our light has come. The world is in darkness, they look up to us for light.
How can we be witnesses of the light?
- Seek to imitate Christ.
- Live a life of love.
- Live a life of sacrifice.
- Avoid sexual immortality (Ephesians 5:3)
- Watch your tongue (Ephesians 5:4)
- Find out what pleases the Lord and do it.
- Learn to expose the fruitless deeds of darkness.
Live as wise people and make the most of every opportunity. Wise people don't get drunk on wine, they speak in songs and spiritual songs, they submit to one another. (Ephesians 5: 18-21)
