Passage: Acts 3:12-19, 1 John 3:1-7 , Luke 24: 36-48

After the crucifixion of Jesus, the disciples were filled with fear. Jesus appeared to them and the first thing He said was 'Peace be onto you'. It was to remind them of the calming effect his presence brings. Today, that greeting is still relevant because of the turmoil in our world today. When Jesus appeared to the disciples on the Emmaus road, they did not recognize him. It was when He opened their minds that they began to understand the mystery of the resurrection and its true significance. True understanding of God and His word must be experienced. May this experience bring us hope and peace.

This opening of the mind was also to introduce then to the person Jesus was. Even after being with him for 3 years, when He appeared to them, they didn't recognize him. It was when He broke the bread that they realized that their Lord and Master was with them.

The resurrection of our Lord should not merely be a historic event. It should inspire peace and courage in our everyday lives.
