Passage: Matthew 21:18-22

What is a mountain?
A mountain is a fixed and permanent situation in your life. It also refers to difficult circumstances that appears higher and intimidating or conditions that barricade and hinder your progress in life.

In our Christian journey, there are a lot of mountains that surround us. For example, the mountain of sin, pain, confusion, poverty, sickness, doubt singleness, joblessness debt can all be moved out of our lives by faith

Lessons from the Passage

THE POWER OF WORDS

Words are like seeds that are sown. They carry the potential to change our situation. In verse 19b of the passage, we read, "Then he said to it, may no fruit ever come from you again!” And the fig tree withered at once."

By the words of Jesus, the tree withered to its root as stated in the gospel of Mark narration. Jesus was thus demonstrating the power in words spoken with faith. Be careful of the things you pronounce in your life, in the life of your children and in the life of others. Everything we see was created by words.

In Genesis 1: 3 we read; “and God said, let there be light and there was light.”

If your mountain will move, it depends on what you are saying about it. For some of us, we have been saying negative things concerning our own lives: this sickness will kill me, I can’t make it, it is not possible.

But I came with a different message this morning, if you change the way you speak, things will surely change in your life. I don’t care about the kind of situation you are going through, all I want you to understand is that if you will change the way you talk, things will definitely change in your life.

Do you know that some situations in your life and in the lives of others around you are awaiting a word from you? Until that word comes, things will remain the same.

Focus on God’s power, not on the size of the mountain. Friends in the Lord, for some of us, instead of focusing on God who created all things and is able to change every situation, we are rather focusing on the size of the mountain.

In 1Samuel 17: 45-46 we read; David said to the Philistine, and you come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

This day the LORD will deliver you into my hands, and I'll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel

Everyone was afraid but David was confident of winning the battle because he wasn’t focusing on the mountain but rather focusing on what His God can do. May you focus on what God is able to do and not the size of the mountain.

Your Prayer with faith will yield results

In verse 22 we read; "Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive.” What have you been praying about? Do you have faith that He will answer? Only believe and trust in this God. You can change your situation if you will communicate to the Lord in faith.

In conclusion, whether what is to be done is great or small, faith is sufficient. You just have to;

* Believe in what you say

* Do not doubt yourself

* Focus on God and not on the mountain

* Pray with faith.

Amen
