The Trinity in simple terms is one God who reveals Himself in three persons, that is; the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. It means three distinct persons all functioning as One.
The three are in partnership as one body; they are united to fulfil the plan and purpose of God for humanity.
The triune Godhead are coequal, coeternal and coexists as one unit. They work in unison. It is a mystery that transcends human understanding and it is only through the Holy Spirit that we can really understand this concept.
Grace comes through Jesus Christ who is the Son. Love, on the other hand, is of God who is the Father while fellowship is through the Holy Spirit who is the third Person of the Trinity.
These three are linked to the Trinity and are important keys on our Christian journey.
Grace refers to the undeserved or unmerited favour of God towards mankind. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Our salvation in totality is an act of God’s grace, freely given and received by believing in Christ.
Love (Agape) on the other hand is the unconditional, a sacrificial love, a self-giving love that gives freely without asking anything in return. It describes the love God has for the world (John 3:16).
When it comes to fellowship it is for us to be united with God and other believers the Holy Spirit has been given to us (John 14:16-18).
Grace, Love and Fellowship are inseparable. They are the foundations of our faith and are very closely linked to the salvation plan of God.
God expects every believer to firstly walk in the grace of Christ. (1 Peter 4:10-11). Again every believer is expected to walk in the love of God (Ephesians 5:1-2 ). Thirdly, as believers, we are expected to participate in fellowship with the Holy Spirit and with one another. (Hebrews 10:25 )
By the Grace experienced through Jesus we know the Love of God and by the Holy Spirit we are able to fellowship with God and God’s people.
It is my prayer that as Christians, we will partake in all the benefits which Christ of his free grace and favor has purchased on our behalf; the Father out of his free love has purpose for us; and the Holy Spirit applies and bestows upon us.
