Passage: Luke 19:1-10

To seek means - to go in search of, to ask for, to try to acquire or gain. Luke 19:10 states; ‘The Son of Man came to seek and save the lost. God is seeking humans. Likewise in 2 Chronicles 7:14, Humans seeking God. Again in Psalm 27:8, the bible says - My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.

In 2 Chronicles 15:2b, we read that ' If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. To save on the other hand means to rescue or deliver from harm; sin. It also means to preserve or guard against harm, destruction or loss.

John 3:17 - For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. The aim of Jesus is to seek the lost and to save them. The word “Lost” refers to someone who does not know God and does not have a relationship with him.

They have wandered away from God, and Satan is the ruling power in their lives. We don’t have a burden for the lost. And until we believe that people are lost without Jesus as their Saviour, we aren’t going to be compelled to do anything about it. Isaiah 1:10-18 says, God wants us to love him, trust him, and turn from our sin then he will be pleased with our ‘sacrifices’ of time, money and service

Luke 19:1-10 - Zacchaeus faced formidable barriers in seeking Jesus. The barriers included; - His profession was a hindrance - His wealth was a hindrance - His stature was a hindrance - He did what he could to overcome these barriers - He positioned himself above the crowd.

As Christians, when we sincerely seek Jesus, we will be found by Him. Jesus recognised his wholehearted repentance and willingness to help the poor.

How do you look at people? What set of lenses do you wear when you see the people around you? Have a repentant heart not only in the house of God but within you wherever you are.

God has made you His ambassador to go out and share this salvation with others. Shepherds normally hear the voices of their lost sheep and move to them. Let Jesus hear your genuine cry, he will run quickly to your rescue in Jesus name.

Amen.
