Prophesying has become the order of the day. But Jeremiah asked; Do you think I am confined to just one thing? Prophecy in itself is not a bad thing but as Christians, when prophecies come our way, we should always try to match them alongside the scriptures to derive the real meaning. We should not take prophecies hook line and sinker.
In 2 Timothy 1:1-7, we are cautioned to know the times we are in. "But mark this: there will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH SUCH PEOPLE. They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth."
Let us as Christians, apply Godly wisdom to interpret the times we are in.
Unfortunately, Christians of today have developed tingly hears ready to imbibe whatever messages we hear and the false prophets are also exploiting that by telling us what we want to hear instead of the undiluted word of God. We must be on the watch out for these "lying, dreaming, thinking prophets" whose main aim is to deceive us.
The times are indeed rough but we must hold on to our faith just as the prophets of old did.
Today, things like homosexuality, lesbianism, 'sakawa', adulatory, have invaded our society but I want to assure you that though we are in the end times, we must not be deceived.
Thanks be to God, we have HOPE. A hope that never disappoints. We need to repent of whatever is holding us back. We must return to where we started from. We must realize that the enemy is just by the door and therefore we need to pray for the Holy Spirit to open our mind so that when such false prophecy come our way, we will be enabled to put it alongside scripture in order to gain a deeper understanding.
If we have the mind to conduct research into things, why can't we apply same to the numerous prophecies that come our way? We should eschew spiritual laziness. Let us learn to run away from the many deceptions the world has to offer and rather hold on to the faith, the faith that help the Prophets of old.
The Holy Spirit is ready to strengthen us if only we yield to it. May God's peace, grace, and mercies awaken us from the slumber and help us know that the time is ripe for us to move on.
