Christians have become lazy and tend to assign prayer to a certain category of persons only. These days, Christians have developed the habit of relying on prophecies and words of knowledge/wisdom from prophets at the expense of hearing from God themselves. We need to respect the new order - the Holy Spirit reveals himself to each of us.
Praying in Jesus' name means Praying in His stead. This means we must ask with the same mandate or audacity that Jesus would have asked the Father if He was involved with that particular situation. This is because we represent Him here on earth.
Praying in Jesus' name does not mean that we pray through Jesus. He has given us direct access to the Father as we can see in John 16:26.
Praying in Jesus' name means praying in accordance with the Word of God (1 John 5:14) His word is His will and vice-versa. We pray in Jesus' name because it glorifies the Father and honours the Son. We have been brought nearer to God by the blood of Jesus. We are no longer in the outer courts (Ephesians 2:13), we are now in the holy of holies Jesus' vicarious death.
As members of God's church, we must endeavour to pray in the name of Jesus. The power in His name has been made available to us as Christians.
