Pentecost is the fulfillment of two prophesies: Prophet Joel (Joel 2:28) and Jesus (John 16:7). It is celebrated on the 7th Sunday or 50 days after Easter or 10 days after Ascension Thursday. In the Jewish calendar, it is known as the Feast of Weeks (Harvest) – Exodus 34:22.  The Jews celebrate the Feast of Weeks by reading the book of Ruth. Speaking and praying in tongues. There are 3 types of tongues: Tongues at the baptism of the Holy Spirit (does not need interpretation – Acts 2:4 & Luke 3:16, the gift of speaking in diverse tongues (needs interpretation) - Corinthians 12:10 & 1 Corinthians 14:13 and Prayer tongues (praying in the spirit) – 1 Corinthians 14:14, 15, Jude 20 & Ephesians 6:18.

Some benefits of speaking in Tongues – you speak mysteries to God – 1 Corinthians 4:2, it builds you up (inspires, strengthens, empowers, energizes, motivates, quickens and emboldens you – 1Corinthians 14:4. I am a SPIRIT, I have a SOUL and I live in a BODY. Man is spirit, soul and body – 1 Thess. 5:23. Man was created - the spirit – Genesis 1:27. No man to till the ground – Genesis 2:5, man formed – the body – Genesis 2:7 and man obtains a soul – Genesis 2:7. Walk in the spirit – Galatians 5:16 – 26, if you are in Christ and you walk in the Spirit, you cannot be condemned – Romans 8:1 and if you are in the flesh, you cannot please God, so crucify the flesh – Romans 8:8 & Galatians 5:24.

Be led by the Spirit – Romans 8:1-16 and be filled with the Spirit – Acts 2:4 & Ephesians 5:18
