Passage: Psalm 23:1-6; Romans 8:1-2; 2 Kings 25:27-30

The fact that we are in December is proof that God has been good to us. God has provided for us, kept us from illness and death and watched over us for the last 11 months. God has not withheld His goodness from us. The reading in 2 Kings 25:27-30 shows us how God came through for Jehoiachin. It was in the reign of the wicked king that Jehoiachin was released from prison.

The prophet had prophesied 70 years of captivity but he was released in the 37th month. He was given a seat of honour and he ate from the King's table. God provides for us, like Psalm 23 tells us, in the presence of our enemy.

We should not condemn ourselves because of our sins. We should not allow our sins to prevent us from experiencing the blessings of the Lord. Romans 8:1-2 tells us that there is no longer any condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. When we become Christians we must remove the prison garment of guilt and live in new clothes of freedom. God will supply all our needs all the days of our lives. May we give to God today in appreciation of His goodness.
