Without the Holy Spirit, it is impossible to be a true Christian. We know that faith in Christ is the non-negotiable means for salvation and not based on works (Eph. 2:8). Therefore the Holy Spirit is a mark of deliverance from condemnation to salvation (Rom. 8:1; Eph. 2:8-9).
To walk in step with the spirit (Jesus) we must, listen and obey God’s instruction given to us through the Bible. Those who have ears, let them (Listen. Matt. 13:9).
Listening is an important aspect of Spiritual growth and it prevents us from acting wrongly. As Christians, we must listen with our heart and mind. When one is immersed into Christ, he or she comes into a saved relationship with God and therefore there is no condemnation (Mk. 16:16; Rom. 8:9).
In Christ one is not directing his or her life according to the desire of the flesh but, according to the direction of the spirit. As we walk in step with the spirit we become spiritually minded not carnally minded (Esau and Jacob Gen. 25:29-34) and this enables us to have a constant relationship with the spirit.
In our daily activities, we must consciously center our life on God We receive power to resist the devil and become true witness (Act 4:29, 1:8). We bear spiritual fruit which imparts peoples live positively Gal. 5:22-23) We are comforted in time of sorrow. Isa. 41:10, Ps. 23 we are empowered to maintain our faith in turbulent situations without compromise (Rom. 8:35).
The person who lives after the spirit has put to death the desire to allow the lust of the flesh to direct his / her life (Eph. 2:1-3). As we walk in step with the spirit we receive divine provisions, ie, protection, direction, power, boldness, healing, wisdom, glory and the ultimate crown of salvation.
The children of God are identified by their obedience to the gospel, by their obedience they have crucified the desire to walk after the flesh, it is for this reason that God claims them as His children.
Paul explains, “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus for as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ (Gal. 3:26-27). May we, in our daily walk with the lord listen and obey His commands to be able to live fruitful Christ-like lives.
