In Acts 11: 26, the disciples were called Christians at Antioch because their attitude and behaviour reflected the character of Christ. It must not be difficult at all to identify a believer in our society.
As Christians, we are expected to use Anna, the devoted woman as our example. The name Anna means, Grace.
The first lesson we learn from the passage of the day is the fact that Anna came to the realisation that all things work together for good to those who live the lord. Though, Anna was a widow, she decided to be devoted to the things of God. A life devoted to God is a life well spent.
Again, Anna purposed to be unique and different among other widows and accepted that the Lord had a purpose for her; hence she must live up to that purpose.
It must be noted that devotion to God gives knowledge and understanding. Secondly, people who want to reflect Christ are ready to worship the Lord wholeheartedly. The more time we spend with God, the more Christ-like we become.
Thirdly, Anna spent her time praying and fasting. As Christians, one of the character traits that we must imbibe is that of prayer and fasting The story of Anna should inspire us to the prayerful and seek the face of God at all times.
Fourthly, Anna testified about the Lord to others. This should motivate Christians to go out to the world and preach Christ to others
In conclusion, having heard about the story of Anna, we must learn to be unique and different everywhere we find ourselves and the glory will be given to the Lord.
As Christians, we must always remember that we are the salt of the world and no matter who we are, tall or short, young or old, male or female we should be devoted to the calling and must not forget to tell others who Jesus is. He is indeed the Messiah and saviour of our world
