2021 Hope Excellence Awards, 19 congregants honoured for dedicated service

Nineteen individuals were in Sunday, December 26, 2021 honoured by the Hope Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Sakumono Estates for dedicated service.

The awardees who were selected from the Generational and Service Groups were each presented with plaque with a citation engraved on it.

The annual Hope Excellence Awards is a way of giving recognition to members of the congregation who have given outstanding service to the Church.

The Awards were in categories, namely the service awards, Professional and Academic Excellence as well as the HOPE Award.

The Highest Award, the Hope Award went yo Mr Kwabena Otu Danquah.

A citation presented to him by the District Minister, Rev Daniel Amoako Nyarko who is also the Minister-ain-Charge read “15 uears of dedicated and sound leadership speak volumes of how much of yourself, you have devoted to sustained and selfless service in the house of the Lord. Your Chairmanship of the Central Welfare Committee led to revisions in the welfare policy and improvement in benefits to congregants.”

It continued “you often sacrificed your personal resources to facilitate and work of the committee without demanding a refund. With deep gratitude we applaud your singular contribution to the well-being of one of the pivotal areas of the congregation'”

Two congregants were honoured in the Professional Excellence category. They are Ms Maya Sarfowah, a creative who through the power of sound, writing and visual skillfully portrayed the challenges of mental health which has attracted global attention. The other awardee was Mr Alfred Kwasi Opoku , Past President of the Ghana Institute of Planners who recently won the Distinguished Planner of the Year 2020/2021 nationally.

Mrs Gloria Okaikor Nyanteh who swept three awards including the overall Graduating Student at GIMPA was also recognised for her hard work.

Mr Ebenezer Kofi Mireku- Children’s Service
Mr Benjamin Koku Xornam Glover – Audio Visual
Mrs Kate Nkrumah- BSPG
Ms Grace Boadu- Singing Band
Madam Jemima Roberts- Church Choir
Ms Portia Victoria Sappor- Ushering Team
Mr Godwin Sogah- Royals of Hope
Mr Bismark Seidu Hamidu- Kotobabi Preaching Point
Mr Kwadwo Appiagyei- EMEFS Preaching Point

The Church Choir also used the opportunity to honour some of their members for their service to the choir during the year in review. Selected awardees were presented with a citation and Christmas hampers.
