A former member of the Council of State, Reverend Dr. Nii Amoo Darko has called on Christians to take active part in politics to help write the many wrongs and put the country on the right pedestal. He asserted that “if politics in Ghana today is dirty, it is because the clean have left it in the hands of the dirty”.
Rev. Dr. Darko recounted how he as a Baptist Minister was vilified by even Christians for performing his role as a personal chaplain for the late Prof. John Evans Atta Mills with some of his critics accusing him for dabbling in politics. “Our business as Christians is to save the never dying soul for hell fire” he said adding that among many other things the church has been instituted by God for edification, praise and worship and more importantly for evangelism.
“Our core calling as Christians, our core values and core duty is to evangelize to the lost soul and the church must devout more resources to embark on that mission” he said. Rev. Dr. Nii Amoo Darko was preaching as the guest speaker at the Hope Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Sakumono Estates’ Family Excellence Week on Sunday 14th June, 2015.
The church has devoted the week from Sunday June 14 to June 21, 2015 to preach and promote healthy family life for which Rev Dr. Amoo Darko will speak on and hold special counseling clinics. Rev. Dr Nii Amoo Darko also called on the Ghanaian Christian community irrespective of which political party they support to pray for the leadership of the country towards the growth and development of the nation.
The Family Excellence Week will be crowned with a special church service on Sunday June 21, 2015 after a week long evening teaching services. All are invited to join the church in the week celebration.
