TODAY’S VERSE:
Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say I am?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “God’s Messiah.” Jesus strictly warned them not to tell this to anyone. And he said, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.” Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.”
Luke 9:18–27

THEME: Knowing Jesus personally

WORDS OF HOPE:
Imagine your spouse asks you, two years into marriage: what do you hear people say about me? You may fumble with a few responses but when the spouse goes further and asks you to confirm or deny what they say based on his/her knowledge about you, will your answer be different from what you have heard? The question is do you know the person you are walking with? Does the wife know that her husband is an armed rubber? Does the husband know that his wife is cheating on him? Does the teacher know that the best student in class is cheating in the examinations?
Who is Jesus to you, have you had a personal encounter with Him? Do you know He is the savior of the world and you are one of His saved souls? Apostle Paul would say: ‘Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I am the worst’ (1 Tim 1: 15b).
The disciples knew who Jesus was, the Christ of God, the Messiah, a revelation granted by God Himself. A personal knowledge of who Christ is strengthens your faith, it grounds you solidly in Him, you are bold to declare Him and His works anywhere and to anybody. The disciples could stand and smile at death because of their personal knowledge of Christ.
Many in our day have lost properties and much wealth because of their stand and personal knowledge of Christ. What does your personal knowledge of Christ allow you to do and what does it forbid you to do. Think about this during the lent period and beyond.

PRAYER POINTS:
● Pray for the anointing of God upon your life.
● Pray that God’s love should be fulfilled in you.
● Pray that you will know God personally.

PRAYER:
Lord, I pray that I may know you all the days of my life. Amen🙏🏽
