DAILY WORDS OF HOPE
BY PCG, HOPE CONGREGATION–SAK. EST
(Lent Day 24 🛐)
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matt 26:41
THEME: WATCH AND PRAY
WORDS OF HOPE:
Jesus is ready to go to the cross. He takes His disciples along to the
garden of Gethsemane to tarry with Him in prayer and amazingly they
fall asleep whiles Christ sweats it out in prayer three times.
Why were the disciples sleeping? Couldn’t they feel the burden of death
Christ felt, despite the many expositions given them on same? What had
become of their own personal pledge to journey with Christ through it all?
Why did they fail when it mattered most?
The answer is in their attitude. They didn’t watch and pray. It is not
enough to be willing on a matter or excited about a thing. Consolidate
same in prayer. Prayer is what affirms our resolve. Prayer is an invitation
to divinity to step into an issue. The disciples were willing in their spirits
but weak in their bodies not from fatigue but because they watched not.
What do you see around you? What is almost giving in around you? Carry
the burden of same in prayer and you will escape temptation and secure
grace to help you in your time of need.
God bless you as you pray.
• Ask the Lord to enable you watch and pray.
• Pray for strength to withstand temptation and for grace in your time
Father, thank you for the agency of the Holy Spirit in my life. I declare the
Spirit of He who raised Christ from the dead lives in me and this same
Spirit quickens my mortal body in Jesus’ name. Amen🙏🏽
