TODAY’S VERSE:
Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.
Jeremiah 9:24
THEME: IN WHAT DO YOU GLORY?
WORDS OF HOPE:
In this life, there are many things people pride themselves in. Some pride themselves in their race or ethnicity; others in their social status; yet others in the school they attended, the money they have or some other achievement they may have in life. There are even others who take pride in negative attitudes such as uncontrollable anger, wickedness etc. In today’s text we see God admonish His backslidden people, the people of Judah, on what they should and should not pride themselves in. To God, wisdom, might, and riches were not things to glory in, rather, understanding and knowing God were. This text teaches us a number of lessons (of which bragging about our knowledge of God, as you would agree, is certainly not part). First, it teaches us that knowing and understanding God is far more important than having riches, might or even wisdom or any other good thing, for that matter. This is because God values knowing, understanding and having a close relationship with Him than any other thing. Second, glorying in wisdom, might, riches and the like is the attitude of the backslider. It is the attitude of one who has drifted far away from God and as such does not see things the way God does.
May God help us to value and seek to know Him and glory only therein. Shalom!

• Pray that your outlook on life will be informed by God’s perspectives.
• Pray that you will grow in your knowledge and understanding of God.
• Pray that you will have the right attitude towards the good things God has blessed and will bless you with.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, may I see things the way You see them. May I value You more than anything You have blessed and will bless me with. May I glory in You alone. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen 🙏🏽
