TODAY’S VERSE:
And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

THEME: OPEN OUR EYES, LORD!
WORDS OF HOPE:
‘A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven’, so said John the Baptist (John 3:27). ‘Without me, ye can do nothing’ (John 15:5) and ‘no man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him’ (John 6:44), so said Christ himself. We cannot, by our own efforts, know Christ. We can fast, pray, attend church services, give alms and do all we could in our quest to know God but they could all be in vain. It takes God’s grace and drawing to know Christ. It takes God to know God.When Jesus, after His resurrection, joined two of His disciples on their way to Emmaus, ‘their eyes were holden that they should not know him.’ He walked and talked with them, but they had no idea who He was. They only realized who He was when ‘he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.’ Their ‘eyes were opened’ only when He wanted them to.We will never know Jesus beyond the level He allows us to. Our eyes will continue to be blind to certain dimensions of Christ until He causes them to be opened. Our experience of Him will remain shallow, regardless of our efforts, unless He invites us to go deeper. May it, thus, be our prayer that the Lord will open our eyes to see Him, to know Him more than we have in the past or do now. May it be our prayer that He will invite us to ‘come up hither’ (Rev. 4:1), to get closer to Him, to acquaint ourselves with Him, to know Him deeply. Blessings!

• Pray that God will invite you and take you deeper in your relationship with Christ.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, may it please You to draw us closer into Your embrace. May it please You to open our eyes to see You. May we know You closer and deeper than we have ever done in Jesus’ name we pray with thanksgiving. Amen 🙏🏽
