DAILY WORDS OF HOPE
BY PCG, HOPE CONGREGATION–SAK. EST
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.
Hebrews 12:1 KJV
THEME: TRAVEL LIGHT
WORDS OF HOPE:
Running or walking a long distance can be very exacting. Travelling light on such walks or runs is, thus, very helpful; and its benefits cannot be overstated. I experienced this practically the first time I went mountain climbing. At the foot of the mountain were some people who carried climbers’ bags for a fee. Initially, I wondered why I should pay for that service when I could easily carry my backpack myself; nonetheless I made use of their service. To my surprise, however, somewhere in the middle of the journey, I could hardly carry even the weight of my own body up the mountain. Not only was I sweating and panting, but I also felt very weak as I was climbing on empty stomach. That experience really taught me a lesson in travelling light. This was one of the things the author of the epistle to the Hebrews drew the attention of his audience to when he wrote to them. He encouraged them to lighten their race by laying aside ‘every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset’ them. This year decide to travel light! Lay aside every unnecessary thing that can make your journey difficult; every grudge, every envy, every pride, every attitude that can slow you down in your pursuit of God and your purpose for the year. And do not hesitate to seek help with any ‘sin which doth so easily beset’ you. Shalom!
· Pray that God will enable you to identify weights that slow you down as well as sins that easily beset you and help you deal with them.
· Pray that God will give you divine energy and speed to fulfil your purpose for this year.
O Lord our God! Help us to identify and deal with everything that would slow us down and make our journey this year difficult. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen 🙏🏽
