DAILY WORDS OF HOPE

TODAY’S VERSE: PHILIPPIANS 1:1-2
THEME: WHO ARE YOU?
WORDS OF HOPE:
Paul, the author of this Epistle, identified himself together with Timothy in this letter as servants of Christ Jesus. Paul who had more confidence in the flesh because of his numerous achievements in life is describing himself in this letter as a servant of Christ Jesus. By this, Paul implies that;
i. he does not live for himself
ii. he is a vessel used by Christ Jesus
iii. he is led by the Lord
iv. his needs are provided by the Lord
Do you see yourself as purchased by Christ Jesus with his blood and as such live to please the Lord? Paul has given us an example to emulate in his letter to the Philippians.
He again addresses the recipients of this letter as saints in Christ to designate them as God’s special people. He is therefore acknowledging that the holy people of God in Philippi are unique people. Believers are also regarded as saints in Christ and therefore very special in the eyes of the Lord. We have been set apart from our previous way of life and are designated as special and unique in the sight of the Lord. This is confirmed in 2 Corinthians 5:17 “therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old things are passed away, behold all things have become new”. We must therefore regard ourselves as saints and live up to that standard. He concludes verse 1 by addressing the leadership of the church.
In verse 2, Paul greeted the saints in Christ with the following words; “Grace and Peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. This expresses his love and concern for the faithful members of the church. It is worthy of note that all grace and peace comes from the Lord. May this grace and peace which surpasses all human understanding rest and abide with you.
• Pray for the grace to live as a servant of the Lord.
• Pray to live for the Lord always.
• Pray for grace and peace from the Lord.
May the grace and peace of the Lord be your portion in the name of Jesus. Amen
