DAILY WORDS OF HOPE

TODAY’S VERSE: PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7
THEME: WHY WORRY WHEN YOU CAN PRAY?
WORDS OF HOPE:
I vividly remember a car bumper sticker that read “Why Worry When You Can Pray?”. I only noticed it as the car drove away but the thought and truth of its message remained with me.
In Matt. 6:27, Jesus, in the Sermon on the Mount, also asked the same “Can anyone of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” We often find ourselves worrying over situations and issues of life, family, health, finances, career and the list keeps going on. In Philippians 4:6-7, Paul recommends to us a more excellent way believers should treat issues of life – to present them before God in prayer with thanksgiving and let His peace rule our hearts. Through prayer, we share with the Lord the issues we are faced with and seek His direction and support. Through thanksgiving, we remember the countless and wondrous ways the Lord has delivered us in each situation.
Fellow believers in Christ, a habit of worrying makes us less dependent on our God who is able to do more than we can ask or imagine. Why then do you worry when you can pray?
• Thank the Lord for the privilege to come to Him in prayer concerning any matter
• Ask the Lord to help you to learn to trust more in Him instead of worrying
• Pray for God`s direction in all endeavours
Lord, thank you for the mighty ways you have shown me your deliverance. Help me remember to bring every issue of life to you in prayer and let your peace rule my heart. Amen
