THEME: OVERCOMING THE WORLD – BE OF GOOD CHEER
WORDS OF HOPE:
Our Lord Jesus Christ himself testified to the fact that there is tribulation (trouble, difficulty, trials, distress, frustration) in this world. Nonetheless, he was quick to add that because He has overcome the world, the believer must necessarily be of good cheer.
In other words, having overcome, he has presented us with a model on how to also overcome the world and its temptations, trials, frustrations, etc. To wit, Jesus is saying to us, “In the face of what the world throws at you on a daily basis, be of good cheer, trust in me, and do as I have done!” As such maintaining faith in him gives us the faith to also overcome the world. In him we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28).
To be of good cheer is to be bold or courageous; it also means to be daring and in good spirits. Jesus, therefore, teaches us that the victory He has won over the world for us can only be appropriated when we are bold, courageous and daring in Him.
Beloved, do not quit because you think you have failed at something in life, and do not quit because others are calling you a failure. Jesus says be of good courage. Child of God, do not be intimidated by life’s troubles, and do not be afraid of your background either. No! A million times no! You have Jesus who has overcome the world. He is the Great One who lives in you by His Spirit, therefore take life on. Do not allow fear, sadness and gloom to rob you of your victory.
Child of God, it is time to celebrate. Be excited about this life. It is God’s amazing invitation to you, for through Jesus Christ you have already overcome. Indeed, the joy of the LORD is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Start that business again. Take that professional exam again. Ignore your age limitations and start afresh. Cheer yourself up and be confident, because God is on your side. Praise the LORD!

PRAYER:
Thank you, LORD Jesus, for victory in every area of my life. I refuse to be dominated by fear, sorrow and pain. The joy of the LORD is my strength and I prevail always. Blessed be God. Amen
