TODAY’S VERSE: ROMANS 6:14 & ROMANS 8:2
THEME: YOU HAVE VICTORY OVER SIN
WORDS OF HOPE:
The Christian life is an amazing life. Not only did we overcome the world when we first believed; we also overcame sin.
Sin, according to Romans 5:12 is a nature that came into the world through Adam and Eve’s disobedience. Sin is the foundation on which death, sickness, poverty, corruption and all the negativities of life are built. Therefore, sin is not
merely what one does but who one is without Christ.
When you confessed the Lordship of Jesus, this nature of sin (the old man), which made it possible for man to do sinful things was destroyed. Jesus nailed it to the cross. He overpowered sin. God, the Father, actually made Him who knew no sin, to be sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21). This is why the Father turned His back on Him and made Him cry,
“Eloi, Eloi, Lama Sabacthani” – to wit, “My God! My God! Why have you forsaken me?!” So, you see Jesus has defeated sin for all men, and this victory is what is credited to our account as righteousness when we believe in Him as LORD.
Therefore let no man deceive you; sin is defeated in your life. Jesus has overcome sin for us, and through Him, we have won the victory over it. Sin is not your master; it does not control you. You do not need to yield to any form of sin all over again, or suffer for sins you committed in the past, much more the sins of your fathers and mothers. Jesus has paid the price in full and God’s justice has been exacted.
Celebrate God for this victory in Christ, and begin to exercise your authority over sin. You are the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. This is your new nature; the sin nature is destroyed. Hallelujah! Be glad that Jesus has won the
