DAILY WORDS OF HOPE
BY PCG, HOPE CONGREGATION–SAK. EST
TODAY’S VERSE: PHILIPPIANS 1:27-30
THEME: LIVE WORTHY OF THE GOSPEL
WORDS OF HOPE:
Paul encouraged the Philippians to live in such a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. In other words, the children of God are expected to live in a particular manner worthy of praise to the Lord. The effect of living in a manner worthy of the Gospel is to bring others to the saving knowledge of the Lord. There is nothing that helps a person see the lack in his or her own life . . . like seeing the blessing in the life of another. People of the world take notice of the emptiness that is in their own lives when they see the peace, joy, and contentment that exists in the child of God.
Jesus told his disciples, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven [Matthew 5:14-16]. When our lives are consistent with the gospel of Jesus Christ, our light shines and others can see and will be drawn to the truth.
Paul was expecting to hear the following from the Philippian Church:
i) that they are standing firm in one Spirit.
ii) striving together as one for the faith of the gospel: work together as believers with the same faith in the Lord
iii) not been frightened by those who oppose them: They must not fear because God is with them.
He finally inspires them not to give up in sufferings but to look up to God in all circumstances.
• Lord, grant us the grace to stand in one Spirit as a church.
• Lord, cause us not to fear.
• Lord, grant us the grace to live worthy of worship.
Lord, grant me the grace to live worthy of my calling in the name of Jesus. Amen
