DAILY WORDS OF HOPE
BY PCG, HOPE CONGREGATION–SAK. EST
TODAY’S VERSE: LUKE 24:13-35
THEME: OPEN MY EYES, LORD!
WORDS OF HOPE:
Have you ever wondered why some people complain that they do not understand the scriptures when they read it? Perhaps, you may have said the same sometime back. Well, you are not alone.
These two followers (disciples) of Jesus in the text have had an opportunity to walk and chat with the Resurrected Jesus himself for about 11 kilometres (7 miles). This journey would not have been less than 2 hours but they could not recognize him because they were kept from recognizing Him.
Unfortunately, that is the position of some believers today. We claim to be believers of Jesus but cannot recognize His voice, therefore, turning to all manner of voices.
All that Cleopas and his friend needed was for their eyes to be opened to see what lies just close by. Paul, knowing the importance of this prayed for the Church in Ephesus “The eyes of your understanding may be enlightened” (Eph 1:18). We all need this prayer by Paul.
Indeed, the spiritual eyes of every Christian must be opened to recognize and walk with Jesus in this life.
• Pray that the Lord will open your eyes to recognize him more and more.
• Pray for the grace to always hear the voice of God.
• Pray for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to know God better.
Father, just as you did to the disciples on the way to Emmaus, so also open my ears and eyes to hear and recognize you always. Amen
