WORDS OF HOPE:
In John 14:13-14, Jesus said “I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it”.
If He says He will do anything we ask in His name, does it mean we can ask for anything?
Not quite. While the suggestion is that He will do anything we ask, the condition for our requests to be done is that what we ask is according to the will of God and will bring glory to Him. Throughout scripture, the character of Christ in prayer and in answered prayer demonstrates a purposeful use of God’s power to bring glory to God.
Fellow believer, the purpose of prayer does not end at God meeting our needs for provision, for help, for direction, for deliverance, for strength, for healing or whatever request we bring before Him. Our prayers must genuinely seek to bring glory to God through Jesus. And to such, Jesus says “I will do it!”.
PRAYER TOPICS:
• Thank the Lord for His promise to us to do whatever we ask in His name
• Ask the Lord to help you seek and desire things that bring glory to God
• Seek His face to enable you to act in His will
PRAYER:
Lord, help me focus my needs on things that bring glory to you in my life and in the life of others. Amen
