TODAY’S VERSE: PHILIPPIANS 2:1-4
THEME: UNITY THAT PRODUCES JOY
WORDS OF HOPE:
The danger which threatened the Philippian church was that of disunity. It is against this danger that Paul wishes to safeguard his friends. In Philippians 2:3-4, he highlighted the three great causes of disunity; These are selfish ambition, desire for personal prestige and concentration on self. In the face of this danger of disunity, Paul sets down five considerations which ought to prevent disharmony;
i. the fact that we are all in Christ: see each other as one people purchased by the blood of the lamb
ii. the powers of Christian love: we as believers must show love to one another.
iii. the fact that we share in the Holy Spirit.
iv. existence of human compassion.
These attitudes are essential if we are going to have the unity that produces joy. Therefore, let us fulfil our joy by making sure that we manifest these attitudes as we attempt to live according to the truth that is in Jesus.
PRAYER TOPICS:
• Pray for unity in the church.
• Pray for the Spirit of love in the church.
• Pray against selfish ambition, desire for personal prestige and concentration on self.
PRAYER:
I pray in the name of Jesus against the love for possessions, power and fame in the name of Jesus. Amen
