DAILY WORDS OF HOPE

TODAY’S VERSE: 1 JOHN 4:7-21
THEME: DUTY CALLS; DO YOU LOVE ME? – 2
WORDS OF HOPE:
Have you ever come across these expressions; love of God, love for God, love by God and God’s love?
The expressions “God’s love” and “love of God” are most often used interchangeably. The expression “love by God” is mostly used to emphasize the love God has for humanity whereas “love for God” is used to emphasize the love human beings have for God. The expression the love of God is mostly used to denote any of these or both.
God’s love for humanity is everlasting: it has no beginning and has no end. “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31:3). God’s love being everlasting is not surprising because God is love and this same God is everlasting.
Jesus asked Peter, “do you love me?” He was drawing his attention to the fact “I have first loved you”. (1 John 4:10, 19).
Our love for God and one another is only a response to the love received from God. Do you love God? Let it be seen in your love for your brother or sister.
• Thank God for such a great love.
• Pray for the grace to love others.
• Pray that all actions will be filled with love.
We thank you, God that you have first loved us through the atoning sacrifice of your Son. Amen
