DAILY WORDS OF HOPE
BY PCG, HOPE CONGREGATION–SAK. EST
TODAY’S VERSE: PHILIPPIANS 2:12-18
THEME: GOD AT WORK
WORDS OF HOPE:
In this passage, Paul was admonishing the Philippian church to continue with their good work by working out their salvation with fear and trembling. They are to note that though saved by justification in Christ alone, they have a responsibility in keeping up with their salvation to the end. According to Paul, God dwells in them and as such will assist them to live to please the Lord all the time. In other words, the indwelling of the Spirit in them should cause the church to live a particular kind of life different from those in the society.
They have a path cut out for them by their new standard in Christ. Paul was admonishing them to live in conformity with their new status in Christ. He urged them to do the following:
• Do not argue or grumble
• Become blameless and pure
• Live without fault
• Shine in the world like stars
• Hold firmly to the word of God.
These are the things demanded of them by their new status. As Christians, we are expected to live above reproach and to be different in the world. We are the light of the world and so we must shine to expel the darkness in the world. Look at the kind of corruption in our world? How different are you as a Christian in the office, school, market, in your marriage and the environment? Paul says though we are in a crooked generation, it is important to be different by our deeds. What are you noted for? For the sake of heaven, live well to glorify the Lord.
• Pray for the grace to live up to expectation
• Pray to shine in the world
• Pray to be different
I pray in the name of Jesus that I will be different. Amen
