DAILY WORDS OF HOPE
BY PCG, HOPE CONGREGATION–SAK. EST
TODAY’S VERSE: AMOS 4:1-13
THEME: PREPARE TO MEET THE LORD
WORDS OF HOPE:
To prepare is to make ready for a specific future action, such that its occurrence does not become a surprise. The word of the LORD through the prophet Amos in this chapter describes the horrible state of the people of Israel. People felt comfortable at the expense of others without regret or remorse. The nation was filled with complacency and a false sense of security, reducing their fellowship with God to a mere formality [a ritual devoid of true spirituality]. It was a state of emergency and a call to repentance, because judgment was creeping at their door.
The church today, when compared to the days of the prophet Amos, falls victim to such complacency. Men and women are parading the corridors of church auditoriums, having a form of godliness but denying its power. “It’ is a time of awakening o ye sleeper to examine yourself.”
It is time we have an encounter with the living God to discern what He expects from us and not what we desire Him to expect.
The time for accountability is near and we cannot do without preparation. In verse 12, we read “… prepare to meet your God, O Israel.” God is ready to come for His church but those whom God is coming for must be prepared. God in saving Israel required of them to be prepared to meet him. As a believer waiting for the Lord’s coming, what preparation are you also making?
• Thank God for the awareness given us of His coming again.
• Pray for the grace to be able to prepare well for His coming.
May our hearts always be filled with the need to be prepared to meet you O Lord. Amen
