DAILY WORDS OF HOPE
BY PCG, HOPE CONGREGATION–SAK. EST
TODAY’S VERSE: MATTHEW 8:23-27
THEME: FAITH OVER FEAR
WORDS OF HOPE:
Consider the passage: Jesus was fast asleep in the boat when the storm arose. His disciples among whom were experienced fishermen would have seen many-a-storm in their previous experiences, but this storm was different. They all were frightened, and perhaps after trying all they thought could work, they realized they would wake up the master to help them “figure out” the situation they all were in. Up to this point, they had known him as the teacher and healer and they did not want to perish at sea.
“Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?”
Note that Jesus’ reprove was not for calling upon Him to save them but because they had let fear fill their hearts and had very little faith. When we are perplexed by circumstances and are in the storms of our life, we must trust God to see us through victoriously. Be strong in Him and His power to deliver you (Eph. 6:10).
When fear even with ‘reasons’ speaks “this is not going to go well”, let your faith speak to your storm: “My God is in control and it will work out according to His plan” and by faith, we would see through the storm to the quiet shore.
• Thank the Lord for His deliverance by faith over every form of fear.
• Ask the Holy Spirit to always remind you that in every situation, God is in control.
• Pray for the grace to overcome every storm in your life
Lord, in every storm of life, help me to trust in you and in your mighty power to deliver me. Amen
