DAILY WORDS OF HOPE

TODAY’S VERSE: MATTHEW 22:1-14
TOPIC: ARE YOU PROPERLY DRESSED?
WORDS OF HOPE:
Have you ever gone to a social function and found out that you were inappropriately dressed? There was a presidential ball (dinner) after my induction into my professional body. The invitation stated that the dress code is formal or traditional. After wearing a suit for two days for the induction and annual general meeting, I decided to put on my nice smock for the dinner.
Surprisingly, I got to the venue only to be told that because I am not in a suit, I cannot be allowed entry. You can imagine the frustration I experienced. It was a copy of the letter of invitation for the dinner which I used to prove my case that saved me. We see in today’s scripture a guest who had been duly invited to a wedding banquet but not in the right apparel.
In verse 10, we see that the invitation to guests was not based on the moral state or personal goodness. It was open for all. So why then was he thrown out? He was not properly dressed. While grace invites all men to God’s kingdom, we cannot enter unaltered. We must receive and wear a new robe which is the righteousness in Christ.
Are you wearing the righteousness of Christ?
• Thank God for the righteousness imputed on you through Jesus Christ.
• Pray that you will always walk in the consciousness of this new nature.
• Pray for grace to live a holy life.
Thank you Father for the righteousness we have received through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
