TODAY’S VERSE: COLOSSIANS 2:1-5
THEME: STAND FIRM IN THE LORD
WORDS OF HOPE:
Paul states plainly that he is struggling on behalf of the Colossians for them to be safe and secure and to see Christ rightly. He expects them to understand the supremacy of Christ. As a faithful minister, Paul expresses what he desires for them and what he knows will help them in their fight against false teaching.
• Paul wants the Colossians to be Strong in Heart – He encouraged them to stand firm even in challenging times for the Lord.
• Paul wants the Colossians to be United in Love –His desire is that the Colossians would be strengthened as they are united in love for Christ and one another
• Paul wants the Colossians to be Confident in Understanding – Our human nature is to doubt, to question what we believe, but Paul’s hope for the Colossians is that they would have confident assurance as they grow in their understanding and knowledge of Christ. After all, He is the source of all wisdom and knowledge.
The reason Paul wants the Colossians to be strong in heart, united in love and confident in understanding is so that they will not be led away from Christ by false teaching. Paul knows the threat and he wants them to prepared. The days of Paul are not different from our days where there are so many people calling themselves men and women of God and they are using various means to deceive people.
We are supposed to be firm in the Lord so that we shall not be deceived by such people. Christ alone is enough for all our challenges.
PRAYER TOPICS:
• Pray for the grace to stand firm in the Lord.
• Pray for the grace not to fall prey to the evil scheme of people.
• Pray to know the source of all wisdom who is Christ.
PRAYER:
Lord, I pray in the name of Jesus that you will equip us not to fall prey to the evil scheme of men and women in our society. Amen
