DAILY WORDS OF HOPE
BY PCG, HOPE CONGREGATION–SAK. EST
TODAY’S VERSE: 1 CORINTHIANS 9:25-27
THEME: GO INTO STRICT TRAINING
WORDS OF HOPE:
To win in the pursuit of life you must apply yourself to strict training.
Paul exhorted Timothy to study to show himself approved unto God. God told Joshua to hold the word of God in his mouth and meditate on the same day and night [Joshua 1:8]. Beloved, you are a world champion – more than a conqueror – so apply yourself to strict training. Do not just feed on anything because it is available; no world champion does that. Do not spend your time on the wrong content. Develop your spirit with a meditation on God’s word, prayer and fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
Also, train yourself to be godly [1 Timothy 4:6-8]. The Christian is the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Following from this, the Christian must train to be godly. It means you must exercise yourself to be like God in all you do. You must strive with all the energy of God in you to be above reproach, pious. Godliness is the character of God. Do not dabble in things that take out your shine as a representative of Jesus on earth.
Remember, you are like a city that is set on a hill. Let good character, decorous speech come from your mouth. Do not speak and entertain coarse or profane jokes, they are ungodly. Do not scheme to take what belongs to others and call it business – it is robbery. Train to be godly because godliness is advantageous for both life on earth and the life hereafter.
Also, train yourself to walk in love. Harbour no bitterness, as it clouds your spirit. Finally, train yourself to pray, fast and even to give. Giving is a grace, so excel in it. Exercise yourself unto godliness and of a certainty, we will meet at the finishing line.
• Pray for the grace to exercise yourself unto godliness.
• Thank God for His ability in you to shine. Pray that you’ll shine always in all you do.
Heavenly Father, may your name be praised in all the earth. We receive grace as your children to excel in godliness and to be holy just as you’re holy in Jesus’ name. Amen
