HOPE CONGREGATION BOYS BRIGADE EXCELS AT ANNUAL CAMP MEETING

The 15th Tema Company of the Boys Brigade affiliated to the Hope Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Sakumono Estates emerged tops in this year’s annual Camp Meeting organized by the Tema Volta Regional Council of the Boys Brigade. The Boys Camp is one of the major activities in the Boys Brigade which is held annually to mark the end of a Brigade year. This year’s event was held at Nsakye in the Akuapim South District in the Eastern Region and saw nine brigade companies participating.

Activities held at the camp included Bible Study and Quiz Competition, Church services, hiking, and various sporting events. The 15th Tema Boys Company was represented by nine boys at the camp and they distinguished themselves. At the end of the three-day camp meeting, they picked three out of the four awards at stake. The nine young men who participated in the Regional Boys Camp are Kingsley Twum Ansah, Nana Kwaku Yeboah, Kelvin Anim Bediako ,David Kwayisi Bediako. The rest are Nana Kofi Opoku Ofori Atta, Francis Lawson, Kojo Appiah-Ansah Samuel Owusu Frimpong and Richard Danso.

Of the four awards at stake, three went to representatives from the 15th Tema Company. They award winners were; Kojo Appiah-Ansah (Most Disciplined Camper), Samuel Owusu Frimpong (Most Hardworking Camper), and Kingsley Twum Ansah (Best Hiker). Master Kingsely Twum Ansah, made history as being the first boy to attend a Regional Boys Camp at age 5 (Pre-Junior Section). Though he was ruled out of the hiking and expedition activity due to his age and on health grounds, the young lad expressed desire of embarking on the 25km walk through the Brekuso Mountain forest. A special citation awarded read in parts thus “he never complained of being tired or needing any form of assistance other than water.” For his determination, Master Kingsely Twum Ansah caught the attention of the Campers and Hikers and won the admiration of the Regional Executive Council body who adjudged him Best Hiker at the 2015 Tema Volta Regional Boy’s Camp.
