The Hope Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Sakumono Estates marked the birth of Jesus Christ with a church service. The auditorium was filled with congregants who sang and danced in thanksgiving to the Lord.
The District Minister, Rev. Emmanuel Obeng Ntow in a Christmas message to the HOPE pronounced special blessings of the season to the congregation.
“May you have the gift of love, the gift of peace, and the gift of happiness. May all these be yours at this Christmas. May the joy of Christmas give you, key to every closed door, light to dispel any darkness in your life and may God our father, who gave His only son to us, grant you peace and tranquillity.” he said
“May your life and home be filled with the miracle and joy of Christmas that you and your family deserve,” he added.
“May this Christmas end the present year on a cheerful note and make way for a fresh and bright New Year. ” Rev Obeng Ntow concluded.
Preaching the sermon, on the theme, CHRIST THE SAVIOUR IS BORN, Rev Frederick Kotey Ashaley, the Second Minister of the congregation said Christmas presented the opportunity to receive special blessings from God, noting that as Christ’s birth was a blessing to mankind, the period of his birth signifies continuous blessings from God.
He said as Christians, our response to the Christmas message is to learn how to say NO to ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled in this present age.
He said Christians must acknowledge that Jesus is the only Savior of the world and allow Christ to control every area of their lives.
Again, they must live according to the standards of the Saviour and turn away from the present age of materialism and sexual promiscuity.
He reminded all that the reason for this celebration is Christ stressing that throughout the celebration, Christians should not forget Christ the redeemer of our souls.
°As you enjoy your food and drinks this Christmas, never forget that the Saviour expects us to live to glorify Him.” he said.
